I NEED THESE
When first I awoke, there was a sweet that was made. I’d like to say it was the predecessor of the gingerbread cookie, but the fact is, it really wasn’t a cookie. It was a pressed kind of cake, similar to a modern granola bar. A mix of oats, spices, honey, and ginger that was then pressed into a mold and allowed to cure. The mold were usually quite plain, but once in a while, you’d meet a vendor or a cook who went that extra bit. She would have hers pressed into an animal shape, or a nut.
These make me very nostalgic for those days.
