UMM Hugh had me scared there for a second I was about to find out who I need to beat for making him sad
Okay maybe I’m being a little dramatic but I’m honestly kind of offended at the lack of notes this has? Hugh CLEARLY put a lot of thought and effort into this joke, and you can tell that he’s proud of it he smiles and even chuckles at his joke. Is it so hard for y’all to show appreciation for a good man? He’s trying to be funny is Wolverine himself not good enough for you guys? God
That satisfied dad laugh at the end
that was such a DAD joke
If you put the onions in the refrigerator before cutting them, this isn’t as much of a problem. Getting them cold reduces the amount of chemical dispersal, just as increasing the ventilation reduces the irritation.
Stupid question: does watering/etc affect onion strength? I know there are different breeds/varieties of onions, but every so often I’ll get an onion out of a bag of otherwise totally okay onions that is like a tear gas grenade disguised as delicious.
Like every other onion is ‘sniff, okay, that’s fine’ and the ONE ROGUE ONION is like ‘fuck you, fuck your contacts, fuck everyone else within 30 feet of the kitchen’ and I don’t understand why.
I don’t honestly know. All the onions I’ve picked, planted, eaten, pickled, and stockpiled…you would think I’d have a diminutive answer. What I can suggest is this, and this is a hypothesis…but the thing in the onion that makes it feel so irritating is a sulphur-based compound. Perhaps if the onion has a slightly more sulphuric soil…it might increase? This is likely silly…but it gave me a thought. Now I want to try an experiment.
Let’s find two onions that we sense are of equal strength, harvest their roots, regrow them, one with more water and one without. Then do the same with a different soil type.
Sounds like a plan! If we want to get really creative, we can even sample a piece of the onions to determine equivalency, since they root even if damaged.
Yes, that was my thought as well
